Dear sisters, brothers, and friends,

Please read this.  We need your help in this emergency situation.

Last Thursday in San Francisco at 7 in the morning, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents with guns busted into the apartment of two Young Workers United members*.    The couple was excitedly preparing for the birth of their first child, scheduled for this week. We have every reason to believe the mother's former employers called the ICE on this young family. The employer of the mother was paying far below the legal minimum wage.  The employer also yelled at workers, threatened them with deportation, called them racial slurs and finally, fired the mother for speaking out and organizing against these abuses and being pregnant.  The mother has been a brave leader in fighting for workers' rights in the face of threats from the employer.

Due to the inhumanity of the U.S. government towards hard working immigrants and the greed of some employers, the father was taken away and flown that night to a detention center in Eloy, Arizona.  It is virtually impossible to get into the detention center and 90% of the detainees have no access to a lawyer.  The father is still there and YWU is working tirelessly to coordinate with lawyers and Arizona immigrant rights group to get the father all the resources he needs.

This morning we took the mother to the hospital and it looks like she will give birth to a healthy baby boy this week.  YWU has helped win a minimum wage charge through the City and has claims for pregnancy discrimination and retaliation.  .

Every day we see injustice from the bosses and the state.  These worker leaders fought for the ideals we all try to honor everyday: respect, equality and fairness.  They need your help.  The mother has no income since the ICE is detaining her partner.  We are doing everything we can but we need your help.  If you can donate food or money, you can help fight this racist, horrific system that would tear a newborn baby from his parents.

Por favor, lean esto. Necesitamos su ayuda para una situación de emergencia  .  El jueves pasado a las 7 de la mañana, agentes armados de ICE (la  "migra") entraron en el apartamento de dos miembros* de Jóvenes  Trabajadores Unidos (YWU). La pareja estaba preparándose con alegría  para el nacimiento de su primer hijo para esta semana. Tenemos todas  la razones para creer que los patrones de la madre les hecho a Ice a  esta joven familia. Los patrones le pagaban a la madre mucho menos del  sueldo mínimo. La patrona también les gritaba a los empleados, los  amenazaba con deportarlos, los insultaba racistamente y por ultimo,  despidió a la madre por estar embarazada y por quejarse y organizar a  sus compañeros contra estos abusos. La madre ha sido una valiente  líder que lucho por los derechos de los trabajadores enfrentándose a

las amenazas de los patrones.

Debido a la inhumanidad del gobierno de los Estados Unidos hacia los  trabajadores inmigrantes y la avaricia de algunos patrones, el padre  fue capturado y llevado esa noche a un centro de detención en Eloy,  Arizona. Es virtualmente imposible entrar en este centro de detención  y 90% de los cautivos no tienen acceso a un abogado. El padre sigue  ahí y YWU esta trabajando sin descanso para coordinar con abogados y  grupos de derechos de inmigrantes en Arizona para conseguir todos los  recursos que necesite.

Esta mañana, llevamos a la madre al hospital y parece que va a tener  un bebe sano esta semana. YWU ayudo a ganar una demanda de sueldo  mínimo por medio de la ciudad y tiene demandas por discriminación de embarazo y por represarías.

Cada día vemos injusticias hechas por los patrones y por el estado.  Estos líderes trabajadores lucharon por los ideales en los que todos  creemos: respeto, igualdad, y justicia. Necesitan tu ayuda. La madre  no tiene ingresos debido a que ICE se ha llevado al padre. Estamos  haciendo todo lo que podemos pero necesitamos tu ayuda. Si puede donar  comida o dinero, puede ayudarnos a luchar este sistema racista y  horrendo que separaría a un bebe de sus padres.
